Career Development Specialist - Freelancer (all genders)

Position Information
As a Career Development Specialist, you will lead the implementation of the Thrive and Skill it up Career Components in close collaboration with the Program Leads. Thrive and the ESF-funded program “IQ – Integration durch Qualifizierung,” including its focus project “Skill IT Up,” are two initiatives within our tech program portfolio that support learners in Germany in building lasting careers in the tech sector. You will translate career support into practical, learner-centered formats such as mentoring, workshops, networking events, and community activities. 

In this hands-on role, you will strengthen learners’ employability, connect them with mentors and employers, and actively contribute to expanding their career opportunities during and beyond the Skill it up and Thrive program.
Your Tasks
Career Support & Guidance 
  • Design and deliver career formats (including areas focused on project management, machine learning) with the program teams and the corporate partnerships manager 
  • Co-create employer-linked career activities that improve employability and access to professional networks 
  • Provide in-house 1:1 career coaching (career orientation, confidence-building, labour market entry, etc.) 
  • Support learners in developing job-readiness skills, including CV writing, LinkedIn optimization, interview preparation, and navigating the German labour market. 
  • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to ensure the talent pool is up to date and reflects learners’ profiles, skills, and career aspirations. 
Career-Oriented Community & Alumni Engagement 
  • Design and facilitate career-focused community formats (networking events, career fairs, workshops, peer learning, group coaching) that lead to employment outcomes 
  • Manage career-oriented alumni activities and support offerings for Thrive alumni across previous cohorts 
  • Integrate learner and stakeholder feedback into ongoing monitoring, evaluation, and learning processes to strengthen and scale career programming. 
  • Support the rollout of the Career Component across programs, ensuring consistent quality 
Career Component Evaluation & Reporting 
  • Monitor and analyse program outcomes against defined indicators (e.g., employment rates, employer engagement etc.) and assess overall effectiveness 
  • Identify success factors/best practices and improvement areas through data analysis and targeted stakeholder feedback (learners, alumni, partners) 
  • Deliver a structured final evaluation report with clear findings, strategic recommendations, and a proposed framework for ongoing monitoring and quality assurance.
Your Profile
Experience 
  • Experience in career coaching or career orientation/support, ideally in a program-based or education setting 
  • Experience developing and managing career-oriented communities and formats 
  • Experience collaborating with diverse learner groups and employment partners to support career outcomes 
  • Experience coordinating (career) events and managing relationships with corporate/employment partners 
  • Experience in Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) 
Skills & Qualifications 
  • Strong coaching mindset and high cultural sensitivity 
  • Structured, stakeholder-oriented working style 
  • Excellent communication skills; comfortable using data to assess impact 
  • Experience in the tech-related job market/recruitment 
  • Tech-savvy; experience with CRM/support tools is a plus 
  • Background in coaching, HR, counselling, or career development 
  • Excellent English and German (C1+) 
Nice-to-Have 
  • Experience in EdTech or digital learning 
  • Experience working with Kiron’s target group
